Descriptor alignment with Ed-Fi

DPI is aligning its descriptors with Ed-Fi Data Standards to improve consistency and support accurate state and federal reporting. As part of this work, many descriptors have shifted from the uri://dpi.wi.gov/ namespace to uri://ed-fi.org/. These updated descriptors are used across multiple API endpoints.

Vendors should use Swagger for the complete descriptor list. The Certification Scenarios for 2026-27 SY contains a full list of descriptors.

Improves interoperability and reporting accuracy by aligning DPI descriptors with Ed-Fi standards, ensuring consistent data, reducing errors, and simplifying vendor integration and compliance.

REF ID 795 - Pearson API Integration Reading Screener (Carryover 2025-26 SY)

Integrate Pearson's aimswebPLUS system with the WISEdata Ed-Fi API. The data exchange will cover all students in grade levels 4K-3 who are primarily enrolled in public schools, including Independent Charter Schools (ICS), during the administration period(s).

To support this integration, SIS vendors will be required to collect and report each student’s homeroom information(homeroomIndicator) through the /studentSectionAssociation endpoint, ensuring accurate data for Pearson's aimswebPlus system.

Moreover, a new resource, /staffEducationOrganizationContactAssociations, will be used to report staff email addresses. This approach facilitates managing staff members who have worked in multiple LEAs and possess multiple email addresses.

For LEAs using SSO we highly recommend submitting on identifiers on /studentEducationOrganizationAssociations such as loginID, electronicMailAddress, localPersonId, etc. to support rostering and student matching with third‑party systems such as aimswebPlus, i‑Ready, or similar.

This project will enable seamless integration with Pearson's system (aimswebPLUS) to pull student rostering information and push assessment results through the WISEdata Ed-Fi API, ensuring efficient data exchange between systems.
